Prof. Nikolaos Christodoulou, MD, MSc, PhD

AspireMED Supervisor - Psychiatry

Nikos Christodoulou is currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine,  University of Thessaly, Greece and Director of the Department of Psychiatry at the University Hospital of Larissa, Greece. 

 

He completed his medical training at University College London in 2002, and following his House Officer jobs he went on to fulfil his National Service as a doctor in the Greek Navy. He then acquired a MSc (Preventive Psychiatry) and a PhD (Schizophrenia) at the University of Athens, before returning to London for his specialist training in Psychiatry. Prof. Christodoulou worked from 2011 to 2015 as a Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Nottingham, and thereafter as Consultant Psychiatrist and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Nottingham, until he joined the University of Thessaly in 2020. He has also Chaired the World Psychiatric Association Section of Preventive Psychiatry for a number of years and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2010. 

 

Although first and foremost a clinician, Prof. Christodoulou is also an avid researcher, he has co-authored more than 10 book chapters and has published dozens of research articles in international journals and conferences.
