As a thoracic surgeon at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), Dr. Panagiotopoulos has devoted his clinical practice to diagnosing and treating patients with lung cancer, thymic malignancies, pulmonary metastases, mesothelioma, and all other benign and malignant surgical pathologies of the chest cavity.
Over the years he has developed an expertise in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgical approaches, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and robotic thoracic surgery, and he is fully trained and qualified to utilize the da Vinci robotic system in thoracic surgical patients. In addition, Dr. Panagiotopoulos has developed an interest in chest wall deformities (pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum) and their management. He has a regular pectus clinic dedicated to chest wall deformities and other rib abnormalities including rib injury and fracture, chronic chest wall pain, slipping rib syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome. Another area of his clinical interest is surgery for hyperhidrosis with a keyhole thoracoscopic approach (ETS).
